What makes a truly natural soap? The botanicals behind Old Earth Botanica

At Old Earth Botanica, we believe what goes on your skin matters as much as what goes in your body. But with so many products claiming to be "natural," it can be hard to know what you're really getting. Here's what we look for and why it matters.

Real botanical ingredients, not fragrance oils

Our soaps are built around plant-derived ingredients: beeswax and raw honey in From The Hive, pine and juniper in Night Sky, cedarwood and patchouli in Into The Woods. These aren't just names, each ingredient brings its own skin-loving properties.

Why cold-process soap is different

Most commercial soaps are detergent bars that strip the skin's natural oils. Handmade cold-process soap retains glycerin (a natural humectant) keeping skin soft without synthetic additives.

Scent from nature, not a lab

We use essential oils, not synthetic fragrance. Lavender, bergamot, ylang ylang, peppermint, eucalyptus, each chosen for its scent profile and its effect on the skin and senses.

A soap for every mood

Whether you want something grounding (Into The Woods), uplifting (Herb Garden), or deeply calming (First Light), there's a bar for every moment. Not sure where to start? Our Soap Discovery Box is the perfect introduction.

All our soaps are handmade in small batches in the UK.
